A few of my favorite things

The next disability blog Carnival will be out soon and the theme is "A few of my favorite things". I never consider myself materialistic and sometimes believe less is more. That being said. Since we're talking about favorite things and not people or animals here is a list of my favorite things in no particular order.

My computer.... it controls my home giving me independence and brings the world to my desk every day. I enjoy reading the newspapers from around the country without the nasty black ink getting on my hands and freshly starched white shirt (I used to hate that). Since 1999 I rarely wear starched white shirts. I'm more of a business casual quadriplegic....lol

My Van...... it allows me to independently get to where I need to go without scheduling a day in advance with access, or waiting hours for the access van to show up. The exception to this is wintertime. In the winter I have a dead battery almost every day. Winter sucks!

My drink Aide.... it's a very simple design that easily attaches to my wheelchair. I have it filled a few times a day with ice and it provides hydration all day long and at night independently.

My fleece hat....... when I get cold during the day nothing warms me up better than wearing my fleece hat from L.L. Bean and some hot tea.

My 1622 piece of eight from the shipwreck Atocha it reminds me that I'm still a pirate capable of visiting far-off ports. Not so much rapeing but definitely plundering from the local inhabitants.

These are the things I would put in my treasure chest. Hopefully I'll always remember were the X is located at. What are some of your favorite things?

Hmmm...without including people or pets eh? Well, I'd also have to say my computer...and my car, altho it sounds like it's in about the same shape as your van. So I'm also thankful for taxi money. My phone...helps me keep in touch with my non computer friends, and finally my art supplies. I think I'd go mad without them (or madder).

Definitely my computer! Also my handsfree phone. And the Beast - the demo TDX SP power chair I just was able to get. Putting a nice red ribbon on it since it's already green!

Hi ~ just popping in from the Disability Blog Carnival. Say, how did you get your hands on that 1622 piece of eight of yours? How cool is that!?

Hope to see you at the next Carnival on January 10th. The theme is "Disability in the Media: tell us of your experiences and/or impressions." By the way, have you had a chance to sign our Guest Book at Blog [with]tv? We'd love it if you would!
