The healthcare robotics lab at Georgia Tech is working on a robotic service dog which I think is really cool. I do not believe Nala's job is in any jeopardy anytime soon as you can see from this video.

It's great when science can help improve the lives of individuals with disabilities although I'm not crazy about the robot human interface. I think I will always prefer a beautiful loving labrador retriever to a cold robot. I had the opportunity to use robotic arms to retrieve objects, open doors etc. And I can honestly say Nala does this much more efficiently while wagging her tail. As the research improves I'm sure this technology will become better. Not everyone is a dog lover and I believe this is a viable alternative to assist individuals with mobility impairments. I hope to read more about the robotics lab at Georgia Tech in the future!
