When I was younger I was an avid hunter. I guess you could say I liked to hunt as much as most people like oxygen, I didn't have to do it, but I would turn blue and pass out without it...
Dave a friend of mine, and I took a trip to Canada specifically to hunt black bears one's spring. We loaded up my truck with enough gear to invade Canada. We spent a week in Canada and seen several moose, millions of black flies and billions of mosquitoes, but not one single black bear.
I spoke with my dad today for father's day, and he said a black bear was walking down the street yesterday morning at 7:00 AM in front of his house. At one time I searched all over Pennsylvania for a black bear, traveled to Canada and never seen one.
I guess sometimes we have to return to our starting point to find what we're looking for. Whether it's a black bear or a good relationship with your father, I hope you find what you're looking for this father's day.
