Today's Thought

“The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life. Attitude, to me, is more important than facts. It is more important than the past, the education, the money, than circumstances, than failure, than successes, than what other people think or say or do. It is more important than appearance, giftedness or skill. It will make or break a company... a church... a home.

The remarkable thing is we have a choice everyday regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day. We cannot change our past... we cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have, and that is our attitude. I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% of how I react to it. And so it is with you... we are in charge of our Attitudes.”

Charles R. Swindoll quotes (American Writer and Clergyman, b.1934)

I think that is the best quotation I have ever read. It's how we react to life that defines us. I'm always looking for new quotations for my bulletin board, I think this one will make the cut. What are some of your inspirational quotations?

Ah, yes. I too try to keep the ideal firmly in mind, reciting Abe Lincoln's version to myself regularly. "Most folks are about as happy as they make up their minds to be."

Another worthwhile resource are the writings of Viktor Frankl, especially his memoir about surviving a Nazi concentration camp.

I have a book that I keep that contains quotes that I've come across and have struck me.

One of my favorites that makes me chuckle each time I read it...

"Live life in such a way that when your feet hit the floor in the morning, Satan shudders and says..."Oh shit, he/she's awake"!!

Yep, I love quotes too. They make me feel at least a little better. I tuned in to say stay safe during G-20. And Adesta's quote made me smile. Great post!

Definitely true. My favorite quote is the whole basis of my blog. It has a deeper meaning to me than the surface one.

"Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away."

I like to change it to fit me. Life is not measured by the number of breaths I take, but by the moment that took my breath away.
