It's over

The Pittsburgh Penguins hockey season is over. Last night the Montréal Canadiens defeated the Penguins 5 to 2 at Mellon arena.

It will be the last game played at Mellon Arena, which has a long hockey history dating back to October 11, 1967. The first game played was also a loss to the Montréal Canadiens, maybe it's fitting that the last game was also a loss. The Penguins were never able to win a Stanley Cup on home ice, hopefully the new arena will have better luck.

As a fan it's difficult to end the season. But at least the Penguins fans were better behaved than the Montréal Canadiens fans last night. In Montréal there was rioting, shops were destroyed and police were necessary.......

It was a great season and I'm certainly looking forward to next year already! Someone just let me know who wins the Stanley Cup, I may not be watching hockey for a while....

Bummer!!! And that's my nice way to put it! *smile*

I didn't realize our first loss was to Montreal also, so yeah, it is kinda fitting I suppose to have the last game at Mellon be against Montreal. Kind of seemed fated now, don't ya think.

In the long run, we had a good run. As the announcers said last night, the Penguins didn't so much lose the series, Montreal just played better. And that Halak....damn that man-wall! lol

Sorry about the team's loss. I remember how I felt when the Phillies lost to the Yankees last year.

Next year. There's always next year. But it hurts.

I was sad to see Pitts go too, I was really pulling for Crosby to bring another one home. As a long-time Leaf fan, all I can say is "I feel your pain."

Don't worry, I'm sure the Habs will figure out some inventive way to blow it in the final and the people of Montreal will proceed to burn the city down :D
