Crosby's scoring streak reaches 13 games as Penguins claim seventh win in a row The Pittsburgh Penguins are on fire! Last night they beat the New York Rangers by a score of 3 to 1.
I am looking forward to going to Thursday night's game against Atlanta, hopefully the winning streak continues. Crosby is leading the NHL in points, and it looks like the Penguins are back on track after starting the season off a little slow.
Talking sports, the Pittsburgh Steelers barely squeaked by the Buffalo Bills on Sunday 19-16 winning the game in overtime. If it was any other team than Buffalo I think the Steelers would have lost that game. At least the new field goal kicker (Suisham) is doing a great job!
At first I was not sure how to pronounce his name, and he was dubbed sushi boy..... after winning the game in overtime I made the effort, lol. Sui-Sham.... say it with me!

Rendell vetoes bill to expand 'castle doctrine'
Rendell vetoes bill to expand 'castle doctrine' Here is another reason why I will be glad to see Gov. Ed Rendell leave office. This bill was written to protect homeowners and give basic protection rights to individuals over criminals.
Hopefully it passes with the new administration. What are your thoughts on personal protection and the ability to protect your home, property and most importantly life and family?

Service Dog Update
Training will begin in early February for myself and Misty Morning. I'm really looking forward to the entire process and bonding with this very exceptional dog. As you can see from her pictures she's a real cutie, but I'm not exactly a non-partial judge.
She is hard at work learning specific task to meet my needs. If you would like to donate to SSD please click HERE . It's a great organization that makes such a difference in the lives of people with disabilities.
I am really looking forward to spending some quality time with this little black Labrador retriever. I can't wait to take her to PET Smart and buy her a few new toys!

Wicked Wednesday
At least the weather is wicked here in Pittsburgh. I thought the wind and rain last night would take the roof off the house. I believe winter is finally coming to the Burgh.
Yesterday the Pittsburgh Steelers released longtime placekicker Jeff Reed. He missed a total of seven field goals this year already.... I was never a big fan of Jeffrey and frankly I'm glad to see him go.
He was unable to kick the football into the end zone on kickoffs, basically refused to tackle and cost the Steelers a few points in kickoffs returned for touchdowns. Not to mention his off field shenanigans with gas station (Sheetz) paper towel dispensers and drunken urination in the Southside.
It's a hockey night in Pittsburgh, I'm looking forward to watching the Penguins bring home a victory in their 20th game of the season. Let's Go Pens!

New Blog
I am starting a new blog called Accessible Hunter if you know any individuals with disabilities who are interested in hunting or friends and family members that are looking for disabled hunting information, I would appreciate you passing this along to them.
Sunday Night Football
The only thing good about last night's Sunday night football game between the Pittsburgh Steelers and New England Patriots was watching Faith Hill do the opening commercial.....
Ben Roethlisberger had a terrible game last night, spending most of his time on the turf thanks to a substandard offensive line....
It's a fact that teams may not be able to run against the Pittsburgh Steelers, but the patriots sure proved you can throw the ball against them.
The secondary has always been poor and it was certainly exploited last night ...... Tom Brady beat the Steelers with his arm ........ Steelers lose 39 to 26 at home.

Music CDs and Books
I have collected quite a few music CDs over the years (150+). The CDs occupy a complete shelf in my bedroom bookcase. I never really listen to them anymore, the music that I listen to is all on my computer and easily accessible.
It's going to be a big project but I plan on downloading each CD onto my computer and then donating the music collection to some charitable organization. My question is which organization? Or should I just donate them to the city mission?
I'm also doing the same thing with my book collection. I want to try to minimalize my environment a little more. The books that I am buying now are all electronic and on my Kindle.
It seems like I'm getting too much stuff that I never really use. If any of you local readers have an idea on who would benefit from the CDs, please let me know.

Pens 5 Tampa Bay 1
Marc-Andre Fluery took the ice last night to chants of Fluery, Fluery, Fluery and when the game was over he deserved every fans appreciation. He recorded his 150th win ! The Penguins looked really good last night against the Tampa Bay Lightning, especially in the power play killing shifts.
Now I'm looking forward to a big win in Ohio. Penn State University takes on the Ohio state buckeyes today at 3:30 PM. It's going to be quite a challenge but hopefully Penn State comes away with an upset!
Sunday evening the Pittsburgh Steelers will be playing at home against the New England Patriots. The patriots lost to the Cleveland Browns last week so they will be looking for a victory. I don't believe they will find it here in Pittsburgh, I say the Steelers are going to win by seven points. That's right, seven points you heard it here first.

Big 8 Point
It looks like another trip to Kips Deer Processing . My brother John tagged this monster last night with his Parker Buck Buster 175 and a two blade 100 grain Rage Broadhead.
It's nice that we both got 8 pointers this year. But unfortunately his buck was bigger than mine, so I probably have to listen to him brag for an entire year... lol

Strange Day, Can I Get a Witness
Yesterday it was a beautiful day here in the Burgh, so I decided to venture outside and go to Starbucks for some coffee. As I was heading down my sidewalk ramp my neighbor was leaving for work, she rolled down her window and we exchange pleasantries........ nothing strange so far, but wait for it.
She said she was praying for me, which I replied "I really appreciate your thoughts and prayers.". She continued on, stating the Holy Spirit would one day make me walk again, then started speaking in tongues and had what I can only describe as some type of seizure............ it was the strangest thing I have ever seen.
I was really shocked and did not know what to say next. She continued on her way driving and shaking/vibrating down the road.... I'm never rude when people want to pray for me (let's face it, I need all the help I can get) but this was very very odd.
Have you ever witnessed something like this? What would you do or say if you were in my situation? I am definitely not drinking the cool aid at the next neighborhood block party is all I'm going to say!

Service Dog Update
I received word from Susquehanna Service Dogs that I will be partnering with my new dog this February. I am very excited and looking forward to training. I will be receiving my first choice, SSD Misty. She is a beautiful black Labrador Retriever with the cutest face anyone could ask for. If you would like to make an online donation to SSD please click Here
I now have a 300 page manual to read over and become familiar with. A lot of things have changed since my initial team training 11 years ago. One of the most important things to establish in my opinion, is an early bond with the dog. She needs to trust me and want to work with me.
Usually February is a reminder of my accident and often a depressing month. This year I will have something positive to look forward to. My only concern is the weather, hopefully it's a very mild winter.

Weather in Pittsburgh, Followed by Attitude
Post-Gazette NOW - Weather it's going to be a gorgeous week here in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania! I'm really looking forward to the warmer temperatures and being able to get outside again. When winter comes I tend to hibernate, my life is just easier that way.... Although it's not always possible.
We turned the clocks back this weekend for daylight savings time. I personally think that sucks. Now it will be getting dark at 5 PM in the afternoon, effectively ending my bow hunting season.
By the time my brother gets off work we will not have enough time to get set up........ Yes, daylight savings time sucks! I'm not sure who this benefits but it's probably some Peta sympathizer (no nasty comments please).
My attitude continues to be pissy, as you can tell from this post. I may need a self-imposed afternoon exile to my favorite tavern to listen to music, consume Guinness and basically reboot my system.

Joe Paterno Wins # 400
Joe Paterno won his 400th game as the head coach at Penn State University yesterday afternoon against Northwestern University. It certainly did not come easy, as Penn State was down 21 points with less than a minute to go in the first half.
The team battled back, defeating Northwestern 35 to 21 giving the hometown crowd a victory at Happy Valley. I love Penn State football and I'm very glad they pulled a victory out yesterday.
I remember the national championship game in 1986 and how everyone at the University went crazy over the victory! It doesn't look like another national championship year, but a Penn State victory is always something to celebrate.

Just Annoyed, Run Away
Have you ever gotten a phone call first thing in the morning that just put's your day into a tailspin? I just received one myself....... without going into details let's just say some people are idiots. In general, life does not have to be this difficult, there are clear answers to problems.
Here is where I roll up the ramp to my accessible soapbox, you may want to find the nearest exit immediately.
Take personal responsibility for your life, which includes your finances. If you need money... get a job, have a plan, work towards a future. If someone is providing a service to you, pay them what that service is worth.
Stop being so damn cheap, appreciate the people around you, come to an understanding, be reasonable and basically use some freaking common sense..... I'm not a rocket scientist, but life does not have to be this hard all the time, and it sure as hell should not be my problems.
This concludes the accessible soapbox Chronicles for the day, please carry on with your daily task and objectives.

Tuesday
Today is election day here in the United States, hopefully you are a registered voter and will get to the polls and vote!
When I was younger I never voted, now I rarely miss an election. I'm going to wait until it's a little warmer this afternoon then head over to my polling place. I love the touchscreen voting because I can do it independently for the most part.
Yesterday afternoon was a beautiful fall day here in Pennsylvania and I took the opportunity to go bow hunting. I used a different ground blind a ameristep outhouse blind which is a very small one-person blind. My brother was hunting in his tree stand close by...
I watched a mature Doe cross a field about 200 yards away and walk right to my location. I was very calm on the outside but very excited on the inside. She slowly walked to within 25 yards of my ground blind and stood broadside.
I was watching through the scope waiting for her to take another two steps which would put her directly into my crosshairs. I have a very limited range of motion with the adapted crossbow and brace that enables me to hunt.
She looked directly into my blind and would not take the additional two steps......... damn it! She stayed on my right side for another five minutes milling around, certainly teasing this quadriplegic.
I had the almost perfect night of hunting, beautiful weather and I had deer around my blind. I'm not sure how many more times I can get out this season but last night was one for my memory bank.
