Officer Derek Kotecki

We lost another police officer last night in the line of duty, Officer Derek Kotecki.  He was an 18 year veteran of the Lower Burrell police force. His K-9 partner Odin, had to be removed from the scene, he would not quit barking or leave Officers Kotecki's side.

You can read the story on the Pittsburgh post-Gazette Here . I have several friends that are in law enforcement and I have tremendous respect for the men and women who choose that profession.  My thoughts  go out to his wife, family and children.

Thoughts and prayers are with the Lower Burrell Police Department and the Kotecki family. Remember the good times not the bad. Cherish every moment you had together. Lean on others through the next few days, months and years. There is no worse pain than to lose a loved one. Derek was a wonderful man now a hero. He gave the ultimate sacrifice with no questions asked. Little did any of us know he would be taken too soon. Anyone who gives there life in the line of duty are the true heroes. To his K9 partner Odin may you live strong daily knowing Derek is still with you daily even though his watch has ended under your eyes. We know your heartbroken like many others are losing Derek. Much respect for Derek. May all of you keep the heads up being strong. Deepest sympathy to you all. Derek continue to watch down on us as we have the watch now. We love and miss you! Thank you for your service and the sacrifice you have made. Rest easy Brother... E.O.W 10-12-11 Badge 27 is now off duty but never forgotten.
