Amazingly, the inside is pristine!! Like it's never been used...Lane.Cedar.Chest. For real.
The before picture was taken without the top, because if you can imagine, the top was even worse than the body. Of course I gave the top to my father-in-law to see if it could be repaired enough to stain the top. He took it home, but said "No promises...it's in rough shape".
Because of the veneer issues on the base, the body had to be painted. I decided that with the size of this piece, if it turned out how I wanted it to, it would sit at the end of our bed to replace a clunky, leather bench we'd had awhile.
My father-in-law worked his magic!! Check it out!
Here it is in our bedroom! I plan on getting new bedding and decor to bring in a more rustic look based on this chest.
I'm so excited about this one...probably because I get to keep it. Although, as I'm writing this, I'm wondering if it doesn't need an applique on the front?! Thoughts?
