I had wanted to try my hand at white washing and this chair was perfect because the wood was super dry. I mixed up a concoction of white paint and water and went to town. I tried using a wet cloth to wipe off the paint, but found that too much came off, so I just put it on with a chip brush and left it. I ended up with this:
(This picture is not supposed to be turned this way...but wanted to show you all the detail)
I liked it, but didn't love it.
Enter my ever-loving father-in-law. He is the true handy man behind some of my projects. I technically could cut templates for seats and use a saw, but with young kids around, I don't have time and don't totally trust myself with power tools. Plus, he says he loves to do it...so I let him :)
He cut a new seat for this chair...and went above and beyond what I thought he'd do...It couldn't be more perfect...cut-ins, a tapered seat...*sigh*...he's the best!
Now all I had to do was add a cushion and choose some fabric
And then glaze with ebony stain (which is now my new favorite glaze!)....
I can just see this next to a bed holding some books!
