The vacation officially ended last night at 11 PM when we arrived back home. If you have been following my blog for the last week, you have seen what an incredible time I had on Cape Cod.
It was extremely relaxing sitting by the Atlantic, reading my Kindle and watching my service dog retrieve flip-flops and training dummies. I was so proud of Misty, she did an incredible job the entire trip.
The food was incredible as always. Eating whole belly clams deep-fried at Woods , raw oysters at Cabby Shack , washed down with ice cold Corona's.
I also stopped over at my favorite winery, Plymouth Winery which I think produces the best tasting wines I have ever had.
But the best part of the trip was seeing my friends and enjoying their hospitality. Matt and Shelagh are incredible host, opening their home and of course their grill! I look forward to seeing them every year.

I am back
Well I took a few days off and basically regenerated my brain. I am feeling much better now, operating on a few days with sleep. Insomnia really takes a drastic toll on my body and mind.
I am sure it did not help that the air-conditioning unit for the house went bad this week. Fortunately the repair technician came the next day. I was surprised that it did not cost an arm or a leg to repair. And the houses is a very comfortable 74° again.
My accessible van also went in for maintenance this week. Every six months the ramp needs inspected , cleaned and lubricated as well as the chain for the kneeling feature. So everything should be good with the Van until January.
Thanks to all the people who left concerns and e-mailed me, I really appreciate your thoughts.

Sick and Tired or Tired and Sick
I have not slept for the last two days and I'm feeling really bad right now. I'm not sure if I am exhausted or coming down with something.
Last night the air-conditioning unit went on the fritz . Thankfully the repair technician came this morning and made the necessary repairs . I really hope I start feeling better soon but up until then I will be off-line . Enjoy the rest of your day while I try to recover. I really hope I start feeling better

Stop the Stereotypes by Learning the Truth
If you ask any person with a disability who uses a wheelchair for mobility what the phrase "wheelchair bound" means to them, I'm sure you'll get a livid response.
I use a wheelchair for mobility, I may be Velcroed in with a chest strap, but I am definitely not bound nor should I be pitied. Let me clear up the stereotype that I am unable to function in life because I use a wheelchair. In fact, it's just the opposite. My wheelchair enables and empowers me to live an active life. I am limited because of a lack of accessibility (lack of ..ramps, transportation, automated doors, stairs, no curb cuts or simply crowded aisles while shopping).
I use a Permobil C-500 power wheelchair that has several seating functions. A seat elevator, leg extensions, tilt and recline as well as a speed package. All of these functions enable me to be more independent. Without my permobil I am stuck at home, not bedbound but dependent on others.
For a recreational wheelchair, I have the Action TrackChair which resembles a small tank. It's 37 inches wide with two tracks as the driving force. It's definitely an all-terrain outdoor wheelchair that I use for bow hunting. It powers me through the woods, as well as over or through practically anything. In it, I am definitely not disabled nor wheelchair bound.
Having the right equipment directly translates to independence. Stereotypes like wheelchair bound are the chains that limit individuals with disabilities in the minds of the general public. Encourage everyone you know to stop using negative terms like wheelchair bound!

Thanks Misty
Yesterday I was out with Misty enjoying an early evening walk (roll) when my new sandal fell off of my right foot. This happened one other time with my tennis shoe. I was alone and it was disastrous. That particular time I had to wait 15 minutes or so until someone came by in order to put it back on.
But yesterday it was a piece of cake. Misty quickly retrieved the sandal for me and put it on my tray. I returned home with my sandal laughing about a problem that used to frustrate me . Thanks girl!

What Went Wrong
Like many of you I am shocked with the decision in Florida regarding the Casey Anthony trial . Was it that the prosecution did not prove their case or did the jury get it wrong?
I believe the jury simply got it wrong. It could also be a case of the jury watching too much CSI, that the jury expected a smoking gun with a giant arrow pointing to Casey.
A beautiful little girl lost her life, it was taken from her and that will never change. Personally I do not feel justice was served in this case. What are your thoughts and opinions?

Second Amendment, Gotta Love It
Arizona Department of Safety Officer pulled over pick-up truck owner Mike Murray for a weapons check because of an NRA bumper sticker.
When the officer approached the vehicle, the man behind the wheel handed the officer his driver's license, insurance card and concealed carry permit. The officer took all the documents, looked them over and said, "Mr. Murray, I see you have a CCP. Do you have any weapons with you?
The driver replied, "Yes I do. I have a 357 handgun in a hip holster, a .45 in the glove box and a .22 derringer in my boot." The officer looked at Mike and asked, "Anything else?" "Yes. I have a Mossberg 500 12 gauge and an AR-15 in the trunk."
The officer asked if the man was driving to or from a shooting range and the man said he wasn't, so the officer bent over and looked into the driver's face and said "Mr. Murray, you're carrying quite a few guns. May I ask what you are afraid of?" Mike locked eyes with the officer and calmly answered, "Not a damn thing".

My Action TrackChair is Here
Last night Doug delivered my brand-new Action TrackChair ! I think it is a phenomenal product for individuals with disabilities who rely on power chairs for mobility.
I can't wait to take this thing out into the woods for a few hours. Right now it's in my bedroom .... don't think I didn't stare at it all night, lol.
